Monumento al Mar, known as Fuente Luminosa, is a fountain monument at the Redondel de La Fuente Luminosa, on 25 Avenida Norte and 21 Calle Poniente in San Salvador. At its centre stands a sculpture by the Spanish artist Benjamín Saúl, surrounded by water jets and neon lights that once glowed red, green and blue at night.

The fountain monument was erected in 1970 by the group UQUXKAH, former students of the art academy where sculptor Benjamín Saúl taught; members included Andrés Castillo, René Chacón, Mauricio Jiménez Larios, Osmín Muñoz, Dagoberto Reyes, Alberto Cerritos and Carlos Velis. Saúl, born in Monforte de Lemos, Galicia, in 1924, created the central sculpture and died in San Salvador in 1980.

The name Fuente Luminosa comes from the neon lights (red, green, blue) that lit the fountain at night, a feature left neglected for years. Sculptor Benjamín Saúl drew on the female figure and marine life, which his widow María Ester Méndez de Anargyros said he saw as the origins of the earth, a theory from ancient Greece.

The monument sits in an accessible area with parking nearby and open viewing spaces around the structure. Early morning or late afternoon visits offer better lighting to appreciate the details of the form and its surface textures.
