Comayagua

Comayagua is a city in the interior of Honduras with streets lined by colonial-era buildings. It holds several old churches from the 16th century and a large cathedral constructed in the early 1700s.

The city was founded in 1537 and served as the capital of Honduras for centuries. It lost this role in 1880 when the government moved to another location.

The cathedral dominates the main square with its baroque facade and draws visitors interested in religious architecture. Inside, you find ornate decorations and a peaceful setting that invites you to spend time reflecting.
