San Vicente del Caguán is a municipality in Caquetá Department in southeastern Colombia. The area spans mountainous and flat terrain with extensive river networks and sits at approximately 280 meters in elevation.
The municipality was established on September 27, 1898, through the efforts of Juan Vicente Quesada, José María Camargo, and three other founding members. In the late 20th century, it played an important role in peace negotiations between the government and armed groups.
The Roman Catholic Diocese maintains its administrative center here, with the main cathedral dedicated to Mary. The church shapes the appearance of the town center and reflects the spiritual role this place holds for local residents.
The Eduardo Falla Solano Airport connects the municipality to Bogotá through regular flights. The best time to visit is during drier months, as road conditions can be challenging during rainy seasons.
