Tinigua National Natural Park, Natural national park in Meta Department, Colombia
Tinigua National Natural Park spans 201,875 hectares between the Macarena mountain range and the Eastern Cordillera, featuring tropical rainforests and river systems.
The park, established in 1989, protects four river basins: Guayabero, Guaduas, Perdido, and Duda, which form essential parts of the Orinoco watershed.
Ancient petroglyphs at Raudal Angostura I reveal the historical presence of Tinigua and Guayabero indigenous communities in this protected territory.
Access to the park requires travel from Villavicencio via San Juan de Arama-La Uribe route or by plane to La Macarena followed by boat transportation.
The protected area contains three distinct ecosystems: Andean, Orinocan, and Amazonian, creating a biological corridor between different Colombian national parks.
