Bioparque Los Ocarros, Wildlife park in Villavicencio, Colombia.
Bioparque Los Ocarros is a wildlife facility spread across 5.5 hectares with separate sections designed to replicate natural habitats from the Eastern Plains and Amazon regions. The grounds contain more than 180 animal species housed in distinct areas for different animal groups.
The park was founded in 2003 as a center for protecting and studying animal species from the Eastern Plains between the Amazon and Andes. Since then it has grown into an educational hub focused on regional biodiversity.
The facility showcases animals from the llanos and rainforest regions, and visitors learn about the ecosystems through observation of how species behave in their habitats. The park serves as a place where people connect with the natural life of these remote areas.
The grounds are open daily and best explored on foot, with various sections distributed throughout the property. The flat terrain is accessible throughout, though early morning visits are more comfortable given the tropical climate.
The park is home to giant armadillos weighing up to 100 kilograms, creatures rarely seen in the wild by visitors. These uncommon animals draw people interested in learning about the lesser-known fauna of the region.
