La Tertulia Museum is an art museum in Cali, Colombia, made up of three connected buildings along the Cali River. It contains exhibition galleries, a Cinemateca, a library, and workshops dedicated to printmaking and restoration.
La Tertulia was founded on 9 March 1956 in a house rented by journalist Alfonso Bonilla Aragón at Carrera 5 # 4-10 in the San Antonio neighbourhood. For twelve years the house hosted a private school in the mornings and art exhibitions in the afternoons. In 1968 the museum moved to a new building on the Cali River, designed by Manuel Lago and inspired by the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana.
The museum holds a collection of about 1,500 artworks spanning different artistic movements from the mid-20th century onward. Visitors encounter works by artists from North and South America, showing varied techniques and visual approaches.
The museum occupies three buildings on the Cali River: the main gallery, the Cinemateca and the printmaking and restoration workshops. The Centro de Documentación y Archivo (Cedoc) holds bibliographic and periodical material on visual arts of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s and is open to researchers by prior appointment. The outdoor theater seats 400.
The Cinemateca inside the museum is one of the few dedicated film venues in Cali, hosting regular festivals such as EuroCine. This draws a crowd that is as interested in film as in the art on the walls.
