Centro Administrativo Municipal, Municipal administrative building in Cali, Colombia.
The Centro Administrativo Municipal is a modern 17-story building standing approximately 63 meters tall in downtown Cali. Its concrete and glass structure displays rationalist design principles and houses various municipal offices and administrative services.
Construction began in 1965 following the demolition of the former Pichincha Battalion site and was completed in 1972. The engineering firms Esguerra Saenz and Urdaneta Samper directed the project to create this modern administrative center.
The building serves as the main center for municipal operations and remains a focal point in Cali's downtown area. Residents visit regularly to handle administrative matters and recognize it as a symbol of local government.
The building is located at Avenida 2 Norte number 10-70 in the downtown area and brings multiple services together in one place. Visitors should allow time for queues and use signage to navigate the different departments within.
The facade incorporates brise soleil elements that create a distinctive vertical pattern while providing solar protection. This design feature reduces heat gain and gives the structure its recognizable appearance.
