Guerrero en reposo, Cement and granite sculpture in Miraflores, Cali, Colombia
The sculpture depicts a nude male figure resting on a bench, constructed with a combination of cement, granite, and tile materials.
Created in 1964 by artist Jaime Piedrahíta Rivera, the sculpture was initially purchased by model Iván Montoya for 1,800 Colombian pesos.
Local residents have transformed the monument into a place of prayer and floral offerings, connecting it with neighborhood stories of death and love.
The monument stands at the intersection of Carrera 23 and Calle 23, providing a central meeting point for community gatherings and ceremonies.
The sculpture received its popular name 'El Muerto' due to its connection with a 1952 murder case in the Guayaquil neighborhood.
