César Gaviria Trujillo Viaduct, Cable-stayed bridge in Pereira, Colombia.
The steel and concrete structure spans 704 meters across the Otún River Valley, connecting the cities of Pereira and Dosquebradas through four traffic lanes.
Built by a Brazilian and German consortium between 1994 and 1997, the viaduct reduced travel times between the connected cities by forty minutes.
The bridge carries the name of César Gaviria Trujillo, the former president of Colombia who served from 1990 to 1994 and originated from Pereira.
Protective barriers installed along the edges in 2008 increased safety measures while maintaining the structure's functionality as a vital transportation connection.
The central span extends 211 meters between two 56-meter towers, making it one of the longest cable-stayed bridges in South America at its completion.
