Complejo Cultural Los Pinos, Cultural complex in Miguel Hidalgo, Mexico City, Mexico.
Complejo Cultural Los Pinos is a museum and cultural center in the Miguel Hidalgo district of Mexico City, spreading across open grounds within Chapultepec Forest and offering several galleries and exhibition rooms. The site combines historic buildings with outdoor garden areas where visitors move between sculptures and terraces.
From 1934 onward, the estate served as the official residence for Mexican presidents and remained the seat of executive power for more than 80 years. In 2018, the compound was transformed into a public cultural venue and opened to visitors.
The name refers to pine trees that once characterized the area, and today visitors walk through gardens where sculptures stand among trees. Inside the main house, rooms alternate between formal reception halls and personal spaces where families once lived.
The center is accessible from the Constituyentes metro station and welcomes guests from Tuesday to Sunday between 11:00 and 18:00 with no admission charge. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes, as pathways link several buildings and outdoor areas across the grounds.
In one of the outlying buildings, private quarters remain nearly unchanged, showing furniture, bookshelves, and everyday objects that once belonged to the residents. Visitors can imagine how families lived and worked in these rooms while national affairs unfolded around them.
