Franciscan Missions in the Sierra Gorda

Five limestone mission churches stand in the mountainous Sierra Gorda region, featuring Baroque facades with intricate carvings and architectural details.

Franciscan missionaries constructed these religious structures between 1750 and 1760 under the leadership of Junípero Serra, marking Spanish colonization efforts.
