Cola de Caballo, Waterfall in Santiago, Mexico
The Cola de Caballo waterfall drops 25 meters in a single cascade, forming a wide white water stream against the mountain rock face.
The waterfall has served as a central geographical reference point for local communities in Nuevo Leon since the Spanish colonial period in the 1700s.
Local artisans set up stands near the waterfall entrance, selling traditional Mexican crafts, regional sweets, and corn-based products from Santiago.
Visitors can reach the waterfall through a maintained walking path, with the site offering parking facilities and restrooms from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
The water flow creates a natural curtain pattern that resembles a horse tail, particularly visible during the rainy season from June to September.
