Riverside Nature Center, Botanical garden and wildlife sanctuary in Kerrville, United States.
Riverside Nature Center is a botanical garden and wildlife sanctuary covering two acres along the Guadalupe River. The grounds display over 140 tree species, 200 wildflower varieties, cacti, and grasses alongside specialized gardens including a butterfly area and nature trails.
The center began with a personal vision in 1987. The founding organization formed in 1989, and the land was secured two years later.
The center serves as a gathering place for people interested in learning about native plants and natural habitats. Visitors can engage with how the landscape functions and discover why local ecosystems matter to the community.
The site is open daily and free to enter, with accessible pathways throughout the grounds. A sensory garden features Braille signage for visitors with visual impairments, and nature trails can be explored at your own pace.
The grounds include a Native Healing section featuring plants used traditionally in the region. A bird viewing blind allows visitors to watch wildlife without disrupting their natural behavior.
