Stonehenge II, Roadside sculpture in Kerr County, US.
Stonehenge II is a concrete sculpture in Texas Hill Country that recreates the layout of the English original. The site features tall concrete columns arranged in patterns similar to the historic monument.
Artist Doug Hill completed this concrete interpretation in 1989 using local materials from the region. The work emerged as a creative response to the famous English monument.
The Hill Country Arts Foundation incorporates the sculpture into regional art exhibitions, festivals, and community gatherings throughout the year.
The sculpture sits along Point Theatre Road S and welcomes visitors daily without entry fees. Guests can walk around the concrete structures and view them from various angles throughout open hours.
The work unexpectedly blends prehistoric British architecture with the Texas landscape in a striking way. This juxtaposition makes the installation a surprising artistic statement that prompts visitors to consider cross-cultural connections.
