George Bush Presidential Library, Presidential library and museum on Texas A&M University campus in College Station, US.
The George Bush Presidential Library is a building complex on the Texas A&M University campus in College Station that serves as a presidential library, museum, and archive. The facility spreads across roughly 90 acres (36 hectares) and includes exhibition spaces, document collections, and a pavilion housing historic vehicles.
The library opened in 1997 and has since preserved millions of documents, photographs, and objects from the presidency of George H.W. Bush. It is one of thirteen presidential libraries managed by the National Archives and Records Administration.
The complex honors the 41st president through displays of objects and gifts received during his time in office from foreign leaders and dignitaries. Visitors walk through a replica of the Oval Office that recreates the workspace as it appeared during those years in Washington.
Access to the grounds is through the university campus, and visitor signs guide the way to the main museum entrance. The indoor spaces are air-conditioned, and several galleries offer seating for longer visits.
An outdoor pavilion displays the presidential helicopter Marine One and a specially painted Union Pacific locomotive that carried the casket during the funeral procession. The locomotive bears the number 4141, a reference to the 41st president.
