Weatherford is the county seat of Parker County in north-central Texas, situated west of Fort Worth along a major interstate highway. The town spreads across a mix of residential neighborhoods with older homes near the center and newer developments toward the edges.
The railroad reached the town in 1880, bringing merchants and travelers to the area and starting its rise as a transportation hub. The depot built in 1908 marked the shift toward a firmly established community in Parker County.
The Weatherford Independent School District and Weatherford College provide educational opportunities, with the college operating for more than 150 years.
Visitors can find a historic courthouse in the center along with several parks suitable for a walk or brief rest. The nearby interstate makes the town easy to reach from Fort Worth or other surrounding communities.
The local peach festival each year draws visitors eager to sample fresh fruit directly from nearby farms. The area remains one of the main growing regions for peaches in Texas.
