Parker County Courthouse, County courthouse in Weatherford, United States
Parker County Courthouse is a three-story limestone building in Second Empire style featuring a central clock tower and symmetrical wings with ornamental details throughout. The interior contains one of Texas's largest district courtrooms, complete with original wood balconies and restored wall decorations.
Architect Wesley Clark Dodson designed this building in 1880 using architectural principles he applied to other Texas courthouse projects. The structure was later recognized as a historic landmark and added to the National Register of Historic Places.
The courthouse functions as a gathering place for the community where residents conduct official business in rooms that preserve original architectural details from the 19th century. The restored courtroom paintings and wooden balconies reflect the craftsmanship that shaped local identity over time.
The building is open during standard business hours, with the County Clerk's Office available for services Monday through Friday. Visitors can explore the historic interior spaces and grounds at their own pace while respecting the building's active courthouse function.
The building displays a 30-foot Christmas tree on its east lawn during winter celebrations, with four large stars illuminated atop the clock tower. This seasonal decoration transforms the historic courthouse into a festive community landmark.
