Eagle Mountain Lake, Reservoir in Tarrant County, Texas, US

Eagle Mountain Lake is a large reservoir near Fort Worth with a long shoreline and multiple access points. The water is deep enough for boating, and five marinas provide equipment rentals and maintenance services for visitors.

The Texas State Board of Water Engineers granted the dam permit on May 1, 1928. Construction ran from January 23, 1930, to October 24, 1932, and impoundment began February 28, 1934. Voters of the Tarrant Regional Water District approved a bond issue in 1965 for improved controlled spillways, completed July 31, 1971.

The lake's name comes from the nearby community of Eagle Mountain, one of several towns around its shores, along with Azle, Pecan Acres, Pelican Bay and Newark. Visitors can also find picnic areas, walking trails, campgrounds and restaurants around the reservoir, and Pelican Island and Twin Points Beach are among the features on its waters.

Water conditions are safest on clear sunny days, especially mornings when fewer boats are on the water. The marinas are accessible from different entry points, and planning ahead helps with parking and access.

During World War II the lake's eastern shore held Marine Corps Air Station Eagle Mountain Lake, a base built for the military's glider program. The site is on the east side of the reservoir, below Lake Bridgeport and above Lake Worth on the West Fork of the Trinity River.
