Southlake, Residential city in Tarrant County, Texas.
Southlake is a residential city in Tarrant County and Denton County, Texas, positioned between Dallas and Fort Worth. The streets connect neighborhoods with shopping centers and office buildings near Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
Four separate settlements named Whites Chapel, Dove, Union Church, and Jellico grew here until the mid-1950s. The formal incorporation happened in 1956 after the construction of Grapevine Lake.
The name recalls its position south of Grapevine Lake, created in the 1950s. Today families use the parks and trails while shops and restaurants along the main roads shape daily routines.
City offices work on weekdays from 8 AM to 5 PM and provide services such as marriage licenses and passports. Most neighborhoods and shopping areas are easily reached by car.
The city maintains international partnerships with Tome in Japan and Wuzhong in China for several decades. These connections enable student exchanges and cultural programs between the three communities.
