Reverchon Park, Public park in Oak Lawn, Dallas, United States
Reverchon Park is a public green space in the Oak Lawn area of Dallas, United States, set along Turtle Creek. Its grounds include a ballpark with a dirt infield, grassy outfield, and stone arch bridge over the shallow stream.
The land became a public park in 1915 and was first called Turtle Creek Park before being renamed for botanist Julien Reverchon. A renewal effort that started in 1998 helped shift the area away from the crime problems of the 1980s and 1990s.
The playground was shaped with input from Texas Scottish Rite Hospital and orthopedic surgeons so that children of all abilities can use it together. Ball games, yoga classes, and after-school activities bring a regular local crowd to the lawns and courts.
The park is easy to reach from Maple Avenue and Turtle Creek Boulevard, with paths that follow the creek and connect to the Katy Trail. Morning and late afternoon visits offer the most comfortable light and temperatures for walking.
A 1920s-era ballpark inside the park once hosted the Southern Methodist University baseball team from 1977 to 1980. Plans for a major stadium renovation supported by a Dallas Mavericks executive were abandoned in October 2020 when the required paperwork was not filed.
