Denton

Denton is the county seat of its namesake county in northern Texas, positioned roughly halfway between Oklahoma City and the Dallas–Fort Worth metro area. The settlement spreads across gently rolling grasslands and is crossed by wide streets that converge on a historic courthouse in the center.

The arrival of rail service in 1881 turned a small frontier settlement into a regional hub for trade and transport. Over the following decades, the establishment of educational institutions helped shape the community into its present form.

Two large universities shape the rhythm of daily life, with students filling coffee shops and bookstores around the central square. The blend of academic life and Texas tradition creates a laid-back atmosphere where live music venues and local eateries draw crowds throughout the week.

Regional rail and bus lines link the area with Dallas–Fort Worth, making it easy to reach surrounding neighborhoods and towns. The central square serves as a reference point, and most districts are accessible on foot or by car from there.

The old courthouse on the central square now houses museum spaces and local government offices. Visitors often notice the Victorian architecture and the tower that rises well above the surrounding buildings.
