Irving, Metropolitan city in Dallas County, Texas
This city covers roughly 67 square miles in the Dallas-Fort Worth region and features waterways alongside commercial districts. Residential neighborhoods sit alongside shopping centers, office complexes, and park areas distributed across its territory.
J.O. Schulze and Otis Brown founded the town in 1903 and named it after author Washington Irving. The municipality was formally incorporated eleven years later in 1914.
The Arts Center offers performances and exhibitions that bring regional artists to local audiences throughout the year. Visitors can explore several venues within the complex, each designed for different kinds of cultural events.
The Dallas Area Rapid Transit system links the city to the broader metropolitan area through several light rail stations and bus lines. Visitors looking to navigate will find network maps and information boards at stations to help plan onward journeys.
The canal system in Las Colinas draws on European waterway design and allows visitors to travel between points using water taxis. These boats offer a mode of transport that remains rare in Texas cities.
