Texas Stadium, NFL stadium in Irving, United States
Texas Stadium was a sports venue for American football in the Dallas area with room for more than 65,000 spectators under open skies. The facility spread across multiple levels and included stands facing the rectangular playing field.
The facility opened in October 1971 and served as home to the Dallas Cowboys until 2008. After the team moved to a new venue, the structure was demolished.
The grounds hosted major football games for four decades and helped Irving secure a place in Texas sports tradition. School teams and professional squads shared the venue, making it a symbol of local pride.
Entrances were distributed around the building, allowing visitors to arrive from different directions. Parking areas sat nearby and made traveling by car straightforward.
The roof was only partly closed and left a large opening above the playing field through which daylight fell. This design shielded spectator areas from rain while the playing surface could see the sky.
