John Gillin Residence

The John Gillin Residence extends across three wings radiating from a central hexagon, featuring long horizontal walls of native sandstone and continuous window bands. The structure sits on seven acres of land overlooking a creek in the Sunnybrook Estates neighborhood.

Frank Lloyd Wright completed this residence in 1958, shortly before his death, and it was his only residential work in Dallas. The house marks the final phase of his architectural career.

The home displays geometric patterns throughout its layout, particularly in how spaces connect and flow into one another. These design choices shape how visitors move and experience different areas of the residence.

The residence sits on Rockbrook Drive in the Preston Hollow area and is surrounded by spacious, green surroundings. The location offers ample space to explore and is marked by trees and natural landscaping.

The home uses unusual angles of 60 and 120 degrees around its central fireplace, creating distinct spatial arrangements. This angle combination was an experimental design choice rarely found in other residential projects.
