Archer City is the county seat of Archer County and sits at the junction of State Highway 79 and State Highway 25 in north central Texas. The town is surrounded by ranches and oil fields, positioned roughly 25 miles from Wichita Falls.
The town gained national attention when Larry McMurtry's novel 'The Last Picture Show' was filmed using its actual buildings and streets. This film brought the community into the spotlight and connected it to a wider audience.
