The Steamboat House on East Main Street features ornate balustrades, two-story-high rounded bays, and French windows that mirror nautical architecture.
Built in 1896 for John Emmer, a former mayor and brickyard owner, the residence later became the home of Louisiana Lieutenant Governor Paul N. Cyr.
The mansion hosted significant social gatherings where Governor Jimmy Davis performed his songs, contributing to Louisiana's political and musical heritage.
Located at 623 East Main Street, this 6,900-square-foot residence contains seven bedrooms, four-and-a-half bathrooms, and maintains 16-foot-high ceilings.
The house incorporates bricks from the original owner's brickyard and includes thick curving walls that create the appearance of a grounded steamboat.
