St. Landry Catholic Church

St. Landry is a Catholic church in Opelousas that blends Romanesque Revival with Gothic elements, featuring stone walls, arched windows, and a bell tower with a peaked roof. The building stands solid and substantial, designed to serve the congregation for worship and community gatherings.

Construction of the present building began in 1903 and opened with the first Mass in 1909, with the bell tower added in 1940. The structure replaced earlier wooden churches and became an important religious center for the French-speaking population of the region.
