Auburn, Federal mansion in Natchez, United States

The Auburn mansion features a two-story portico with four Ionic columns and symmetrical wings extending from its central structure, creating a balanced architectural composition.

Levi Weeks designed and built Auburn in 1812 for Lyman Harding, making it the first house in Mississippi Territory to incorporate ordered classical architecture.

The mansion introduced academic architectural principles to the Mississippi Territory through its balanced proportions, classical details, and formal arrangement of spaces.

Auburn opens its doors to visitors at Duncan Park, offering guided tours through its rooms, including the original freestanding spiral staircase and period furnishings.

The mansion contains one of only four documented detached kitchen and servant quarters structures from the 1830s remaining in Mississippi.
