Dunleith, Greek Revival mansion in Natchez, United States

Dunleith is a two-story house in Natchez with white columns covering all four sides of the building. The structure features a wraparound design that creates shaded outdoor spaces where people can walk and rest.

The house was built in 1856 and represents the style that wealthy plantation owners favored in the American South before the Civil War. This era shaped how the building was designed and what materials were used to construct it.

The house contains furniture and household items from the 1800s that reflect how wealthy Mississippi families actually lived. These objects tell a story about the daily routines and social habits of the people who called it home.

Visitors can take guided tours of the property that include the main building and its grounds with gardens. It is worth spending time walking around the house to appreciate how the columns and galleries work together to shape the space.

The house is surrounded by twenty-six columns that form a continuous sheltered walkway protecting from Mississippi's summer heat. This design was practical as well as beautiful, allowing people to move around the house while staying in the shade.
