The crater stands as a testament to Arkansas's early oil exploration era, demonstrating the transformative effects of industrial activities on the landscape.
The site is reachable via Firetower Road, located about a mile north of its intersection with Baugh Street near Norphlet. Visitors should expect uneven forest terrain and plan for sturdy footwear, as ground conditions vary with the seasons.
