Gulf Shores

Gulf Shores is a coastal town in Baldwin County, Alabama, sitting directly on the Gulf of Mexico with beaches of fine white sand. The vegetation consists of palms, dunes and low green areas stretching between the water and built-up zones.

The settlement developed from the early 1900s as a small fishing village and grew into a beach resort after World War II. Reconstruction after 1979 brought more modern structures and a rise in tourism.

The name comes from the location along the shores of the Gulf of Mexico, and the town carries this reference visibly in daily life. Many shops and restaurants display tropical motifs and maritime decorations that reflect life by the water.

The beaches are accessible throughout, and along the coast there are several public access points with parking and showers. Early morning and late afternoon hours are more comfortable for beach walks due to milder temperatures.

The local shipwreck sculpture on the coast is made from recycled metal parts and serves as a landmark for divers nearby. This structure has become a popular photo spot that many visitors seek out during sunset.
