Troy University Arboretum, Arboretum at Troy University, Alabama, US.
Troy University Arboretum is a botanical garden and forest preserve on the university's campus featuring hundreds of tree species and natural habitat areas. The grounds include walking routes, a pond, and open spaces that reflect the native vegetation of Southeast Alabama.
This arboretum began as a collection and display space for trees and plants representing the natural heritage of the Wiregrass ecosystem. Over time it developed into a research site for understanding and protecting the region's native flora and wildlife patterns.
The facility serves as an outdoor classroom for ecology, botany, zoology, and environmental science studies, supporting academic research and education.
The grounds are open daily from sunrise to sunset and free to visit without admission charges. Multiple marked trails of varying lengths allow visitors to explore at their own pace while enjoying bird watching and nature photography opportunities.
The grounds contain a Champion Tree, the largest known specimen of its species, plus a Moon Tree grown from seeds that traveled to space. It also serves as an official waypoint on the region's bird trail network.
