El Campo de Marte

El Campo de Marte is a public park in Jesús María offering sports facilities and green space for recreation. The grounds include an Olympic swimming pool, stadium, tennis courts, and a skate park spread across the area.

The site began as a hippodrome before becoming Lima's first airport in the 1920s. The land was later transformed into the public park that exists today.

The park serves as a gathering space for the neighborhood and holds several monuments that are meaningful to Lima's identity. These memorials reflect different moments and figures that matter to the city's story.

The park is open from early morning until late evening, making it accessible for various activities throughout the day. Different sections get busier at different times, so visitors can find quieter spots by timing their visit.

A monumental statue featuring 28 figures rises about 25 meters high as the result of an international sculptor competition. The work by Artemio Ocaña drew submissions from nations around the globe.
