Huánucopampa, Archaeological site in La Unión District, Peru.
The complex contains 4000 stone structures organized in 8 sectors with a central plaza measuring 550 meters by 350 meters at 3650 meters elevation.
Construction of this administrative center began during the reign of Inca Tupac Yupanqui in the second half of the 15th century.
The Ushnu ceremonial platform features dual feline sculptures and imperial Inca stonework, demonstrating the architectural techniques of the period.
The site connects to the Qhapaq Ñan route between Cusco and Quito, requiring preparation for high altitude conditions and variable weather.
The complex contains the largest Ushnu astronomical observatory in the entire Tawantinsuyo, measuring 48 meters long, 32 meters wide, and 4 meters high.
