Soure extends across 3,512 square kilometers of land on Marajó Island at the mouth of the Amazon River in northern Brazil.
The municipality of Soure received its official establishment status in 1847, marking the beginning of structured local governance in this part of Pará.
The population of 24,204 residents includes mixed martial artists who gained international recognition, including UFC champions Deiveson Figueiredo and Iuri Alcântara.
The municipality contains the 27,464-hectare Marine Extractive Reserve, which protects the northern coastal mangroves along the Paracauari River system.
