Old Jarrah Tree, Heritage tree in Armadale, Australia

This Eucalyptus marginata tree stands at the intersection of Third Road and Church Avenue, with three quarters of its canopy missing and reduced height.

The tree dates back between 400 and 800 years, surviving the extensive logging operations that removed most large trees in the Perth area during the 1800s.

After receiving 1,147 public submissions in support of its preservation, the Minister for Heritage issued a Conservation Order in 1997 to protect this natural monument.

Visitors can find the Old Jarrah Tree near the entrance corner of Third Road and Church Avenue, where parking spaces are available.

This Jarrah tree represents one of only three individual or grouped trees in Western Australia that have received official heritage listing status.
