Thirteenth Beach

Thirteenth Beach is a sandy coastal stretch in Barwon Heads that extends several kilometers along the shoreline. The beach features rolling dunes that create a natural boundary between the water and the surrounding inland areas.

The beach takes its name from its location near the thirteenth hole of the Barwon Heads Golf Course. This connection to the golf course gave the coastal area its distinctive name.

Local surf clubs conduct regular patrols during summer weekends, maintaining beach safety traditions and water rescue operations since 1961.

The waves here are gentle to moderate, making the beach suitable for different swimming levels. Visitors should watch for any safety markers and check local conditions before entering the water.

The dune system here acts as a natural barrier that protects the inland from ocean forces. This vegetated environment is part of a larger ecosystem that the beach itself supports.
