Colin Maiden Park spans 20 hectares of land, featuring three cricket grounds, rugby fields, and numerous multi-purpose sports facilities for community use.
The Auckland Council acquired the park in 2014 as part of an agreement with the University of Auckland to maintain public ownership of the recreational space.
The park honors Sir Colin Maiden, who served as vice-chancellor of the University of Auckland from 1971 to 1994, expanding student athletic facilities.
Located 10 kilometers southeast of Auckland CBD, the park offers designated areas for dog exercise and bookable spaces for community events.
The main cricket ground, with a capacity of 4,000 spectators, has hosted 29 first-class matches and multiple Ford Trophy finals since 1999.
