Torpedo Bay Navy Museum, Maritime and military museum in Devonport, New Zealand
The National Museum of the Royal New Zealand Navy displays naval artifacts, photographs, and equipment in a converted 1896 torpedo management building.
The museum stands at a former naval base where buildings constructed in 1896 managed naval mines that protected the entrance to Waitematā Harbour.
The collection includes a piupiu warrior skirt presented to HMS New Zealand commander in 1913, which officers wore during World War I naval battles.
The facility underwent renovations worth 1.5 million New Zealand dollars to create modern exhibition spaces and educational areas for school groups.
The museum contains exhibits about the HMNZS Achilles and its encounters with Japanese submarine I-1 during World War II operations.
