Morayfield State School

Morayfield State School, historic site in Queensland, Australia

Morayfield State School is a state school in Queensland, Australia, listed on the Queensland Heritage Register. The school grounds include a historic classroom built in 1873 as well as modern teaching facilities and spaces designed for primary-age students.

The school was founded in 1873 as Caboolture National School and renamed Caboolture South in 1889 before adopting the name Morayfield in 1907. The original classroom was designed by architect Richard Suter and served as a blueprint for roughly 65 schools across Queensland, of which only three buildings survive today.

The school has carried the name Morayfield since 1907, reflecting the local community it serves. For families in the area, it represents a place where multiple generations have studied and built memories together.

The site is centrally located in Morayfield and is accessible to visitors who want to see the historic architecture and modern school facilities. Keep in mind this is an active school campus, so access rules apply and it is wise to check ahead before visiting.

The original 1873 classroom features a distinctive gabled roof with timber shingles and verandas at the front and back. An old playshed from 1903 and a mature fig tree on the grounds stand as quiet reminders of how children played and learned over a century ago.
