Edward Leedskalnin, a Latvian immigrant, constructed this structure single-handedly over 28 years until 1951, using basic tools and engineering principles.
The National Register of Historic Places listed this site in 1984, recognizing its engineering methods and representation of individual determination.
The museum opens daily from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with extended hours until 8:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays for visitor exploration.
A nine-ton gate in the structure moves with minimal force due to its precise engineering and perfect balance on a metal shaft.
