Card Sound Bridge, Toll road bridge in southern Miami-Dade County, United States

Card Sound Bridge is a toll bridge that extends about 2.3 miles across Card Sound, connecting mainland Florida to the northern Florida Keys. The crossing takes only a few minutes and offers water views and glimpses of the surrounding landscape.

The bridge was originally built in 1926 as a wooden drawbridge to advance connections between the mainland and the Keys. It was later modernized and equipped with toll collection to support its maintenance.

The bridge links the urban mainland with the island communities of the Florida Keys, marking a transition between two very different ways of living.

The crossing is relatively short and straightforward, with clear signage from both sides. Vehicles must pay electronically through SunPass or automatic license plate recognition, so it is helpful to check these options beforehand.

The bridge offers an alternative route to the Florida Keys, bypassing traffic congestion on the primary US Route 1 entrance. This makes it a preferred choice for travelers seeking a faster path to the southern Keys.
