Longboat Key

Longboat Key is a residential town on Florida's Gulf Coast, stretching as a barrier island between Sarasota Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. The community features white sand beaches fronting low-rise neighborhoods and residential areas that line both waterfront edges.

The area served as a military bombing range during World War II before being established as a town in 1955. Will LePage became the first mayor following the community's incorporation.

Reach this location easily from Bradenton or Sarasota airports, and bicycle rentals are available throughout town for exploring at your own pace. The narrow island layout makes biking a natural way to get around and discover different neighborhoods.

Jewfish Key, a small uninhabited island within town boundaries, remains in its natural state and is accessible only by boat. This island provides an unexpected refuge for wildlife observation and shallow-water exploration away from developed areas.
