Tiki Gardens

Tiki Gardens was a recreation park in Indian Shores that incorporated South Pacific elements across its grounds, with replicas of traditional Polynesian structures and decorative elements throughout the property. The park featured multiple artificial attractions and installations that welcomed visitors with exotic landscape scenes.

Frank and Jo Byars founded Tiki Gardens in 1964 as a destination for families and tourists with South Pacific themes. The park operated for several decades until the land was sold and transformed in the 1980s for redevelopment.

The site displayed representations of Pacific Island traditions, featuring replicas of Hawaiian deities and architectural elements from various Polynesian regions that gave visitors a glimpse into South Pacific aesthetics.

The former entertainment venue now serves as a public beach access parking lot managed by Pinellas County for Indian Shores visitors. The area is easy to reach and offers straightforward beach access.

Composer Ernie Shreeves created special musical pieces for the park, including Polynesian Fantasy, which became the official theme song of Tiki Gardens. This music became a key part of the visitor experience and helped shape the park's sense of place.
