Hyde Park Historic Districts

Hyde Park Historic District is a residential area in Tampa containing over 1,200 buildings scattered between the Hillsborough River and Kennedy Boulevard. The structures are predominantly from around 1900 and display various architectural features typical of that era.

The neighborhood was founded in the early 1900s as a wealthy residential area and grew rapidly. The government recognized its historical value in 1985 and officially protected the area.

Walking through the neighborhood reveals Mediterranean Revival and Colonial Revival homes alongside simple bungalows that tell the story of Tampa's growth. The mix of architectural styles shows how the area developed for different types of residents over time.

The area is best explored on foot since the streets are intimate and filled with detail. Many neighborhood groups offer guided tours that help you learn about the houses and their stories.

Some houses here, like the Hutchinson House, were designed by renowned local architects and are considered masterworks of the early 1900s. These special homes showcase craftsmanship details that are rarely seen today.
