Tampa Riverwalk, Waterfront park in Tampa, Florida.
Tampa Riverwalk is a waterfront path that stretches 2.6 miles (4.2 kilometers) along the Hillsborough River and Garrison Channel, linking several downtown neighborhoods. Paved trails pass by green spaces, restaurants and buildings of glass and steel, allowing pedestrians and cyclists to travel the route comfortably.
The city started the project in the early 2000s to transform the waterfront into a public space and bring residents and visitors to the water. Several sections opened over a decade, with the final extension completing the connection between different neighborhoods.
The name honors the Hillsborough River, which flows through the heart of the city and once served as an important trade route. Today families use the path for jogging, cycling or walking, while anglers cast their lines from the docks.
The path is accessible around the clock and offers wide sections suitable for strollers and wheelchairs. A visit in the early evening shows the area in more comfortable temperatures and with a view of the city lights.
Pedal boats shaped like water bicycles allow visitors to cross the bay and view the skyline from an unusual perspective. Some sections display public artworks created by local artists that often reflect changing themes.
