100 North Tampa, Commercial skyscraper in Downtown Tampa, United States.
100 North Tampa is a 42-story office tower made of glass and granite, standing in the heart of downtown Tampa, Florida. It is the tallest building in the city and along Florida's Gulf Coast, rising clearly above the surrounding blocks.
The tower was built between 1990 and 1992, opening under the name AmSouth Building before later becoming the Regions Building. Its current name, 100 North Tampa, reflects the address and marks the most recent change in a series tied to shifting ownership over the decades.
The tower is home to law firms and financial offices, and on weekday mornings the lobby fills with workers heading to their desks. The glass and granite facade catches the light differently depending on the time of day, making it a familiar landmark for anyone spending time downtown.
The tower is easy to spot from most parts of downtown and serves as a useful point of reference when navigating the area. It sits in the financial district, so the streets around it are active on weekdays but much quieter on weekends.
In 2002, a small plane deliberately flew into the northern facade of the building, yet the structure sustained only limited damage. The pilot was a 15-year-old who had taken the plane without permission and left a note expressing sympathy for the September 11 attacks.
