Sunset Beach, Public beach in Pinellas County, Florida
Sunset Beach is a public beach in Pinellas County along the Gulf of Mexico, where light-colored sand forms a natural edge between the water and the residential areas of Treasure Island behind it. The shoreline stretches for some distance and provides access to the waterline as well as views across the surrounding islands.
The shoreline underwent restoration in 2013 when the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers added new sand after a tropical storm had removed material from the beach. This work helped protect the coast from ongoing erosion.
This beach serves as a meeting point for people from across the Tampa Bay area and is known for welcoming visitors from many different backgrounds. Swimmers, walkers, and visitors gather here throughout the year to enjoy the water and shoreline together.
A renovated pavilion provides restrooms, showers, picnic tables, and a playground for visitors. A walking path runs along the southern end of the island, giving people an easy way to explore the shoreline.
From certain vantage points along the shore, you can look across the water through Blind Pass and see other sandy beaches beyond. This view is especially popular with visitors during sunset hours.
