Steinhatchee Falls, Natural waterfall in Taylor County, Florida.

The Steinhatchee Falls forms where the river flows over limestone ledges, creating the widest waterfall formation throughout the state of Florida.

The area near the falls contains visible wagon ruts from the Old Bellamy Road, which served as a primary route for pioneers entering Florida during the 1800s.

The Steinhatchee Falls area demonstrates the geological evolution of Florida's landscape through its limestone formations and river system patterns.

Visitors can access the falls via a dirt road off SR 51, approximately two miles south of US 19, leading to facilities including restrooms and a kayak launch.

The Steinhatchee River displays an unusual geological feature where it travels underground before resurfacing approximately half a mile south at Steinhatchee Rise.
