1111 Lincoln Road, Mixed-use building in South Beach, Miami Beach, US
1111 Lincoln Road is a seven-story structure with open-air levels ranging from 8 to 34 feet in height, featuring retail spaces, offices, and parking facilities. The building accommodates around 300 vehicles across its levels and includes shops, with a fashion store occupying the fifth floor.
The building was designed by Herzog & de Meuron in 2010 as a $65 million project and linked to an existing bank building from 1968 at the west end of Lincoln Road Mall. This connection merged the site's previous structure with a new contemporary design.
The top floor functions as a gathering space for wine tastings, car shows, and parties throughout the year. The building has become a place where people come together for celebrations and social events.
The building is easy to navigate due to its open structure and wide ramps connecting the various levels. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes and plan to explore the upper floors during favorable weather, as many areas are exposed to the elements.
The structure lacks conventional exterior walls, relying instead on supports and cantilevers to create an open environment with panoramic views of Miami Beach. This unusual design allows the boundary between indoor and outdoor space to nearly disappear.
